The Shinsedai Cinema Festival, Toronto's independent Japanese film showcase, is very happy to be bringing back an audience favorite from its 2012 offering. On Friday, October 12th at 9:00PM pink films will return to Toronto with PINK FILMS 2.0, Shinsedai's second pink film double bill. What's even better is that this fun and sexy "2.0 upgrade" will take place at the newly renovated Projection Booth Metro (677 Bloor Street West), the newest home of art, schlock, indie, foreign in Toronto, and feature professional burlesque performances by Red Herring Burlesque.

In keeping with Battle Girls & Bondage, our double bill of softcore erotic films from Shinsedai's 2012 season, PINK FILMS 2.0 will give Toronto audiences another chance to explore the world of pink film, a genre that has spawned some of Japan's most celebrated directors including Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Tokyo Sonata), Masayuki Suo (Shall We Dance?) and Oscar-winner Yojiro Takita (Departures).

Kicking off PINK FILMS 2.0 will be Yukio Kitazawa's sci-fi comedy DEEP CONTACT. When a rogue comet is discovered hurtling towards Earth scientists must turn to loner Wataru and his powers of "sexual psychokinesis" to knock it off its collision course. This campy parody of such sci-fi blockbusters as Armageddon and Deep Impact will have audiences rolling in the aisles. Following DEEP CONTACT will be Daisuke Goto's surprisingly sweet romantic comedy BLIND LOVE. The lovely and blind Hikari mistakes apprentice ventriloquist Yoichi for his mentor Daisuke. All that these two friends can do is give the ventriloquism performance of their lives to hold on to Hikari's affections.

Adding some sexy spice to the evening will be burlesque performances by Red Herring Burlesque, Toronto's internationally recognized burlesque artist; plus there will be more than a few surprises provided by co-sponsors Toronto's premier fetish clothier NorthBound Leather and L.A. film distributor Pink Eiga. All the fun will pay tribute to the Projection Booth Metro, the site of Toronto's last adult movie theatre, now fully renovated and joining the original Leslieville/ Riverdale Projection Booth East (1035 Gerrard Street East) in showcasing and supporting indie filmmakers and independent film festivals.

See you all on October 12th!

NOTE: These films have received the Shinsedai Cinema Festival Rating of "S".
